We adore weddings at UWA. And while the most popular spot is the Sunken Gardens (yes, we also swoon over the sweet amphitheatre & the terraced lawns), there is also a lesser known spot that is incredibly charming. The Tropical Grove at UWA is a little oasis with gorgeous palm trees interwoven with thee incredible Moreton Bay Fig trees that the campus is so well known for. It is a little more intimate than the Sunken Gardens & is a gorgeous wedding ceremony venue.
Anna & Matt held their Catholic wedding ceremony at this gorgeous outdoor venue. We should quickly mention that outdoor venues are an option for religious ceremonies. It allows for some incredible outdoor ceremony feels (& of course the photos), while still being able to have the ceremony conducted in the way you choose. Winning!
The couple had the full string quartet (our most popular & lush option). They requested mainly contemporary music, but wove some classical selections into the candle ceremony. As this is a time for reflection, classical pieces are a beautiful option (plus they tie into the more traditional aspects of the ceremony).
Background music before the ceremony was a little more chilled, including Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen & Can You Feel The Love Tonight by Elton John. Ice cream was served after the ceremony (yes, yes, yes!) and we played many upbeat numbers including Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen & Get Lucky by Daft Punk.
Processional • Just The Way You Are – Bruno Mars

Candle Ceremony (Couple) • Ave Maria – Schubert
