As past WAAPA students, we are often contacted by ECU to provide string quartets or other ensembles – in this case we were fortunate enough to work with members of the UK Trade and Investment group on their rather swish event at Barbagallo in Osborne Park.
Working with the event coordinators, we created a contemporary playlist for string quartet background music with a UK focus, including some of the following:
• Coldplay – Viva la Vida, Clocks
• The Beatles – I Wanna Hold Your Hand, Eleanor Rigby – always a classic
• The James Bond Theme and other tunes from the movies – Skyfall by Adele and of course, Goldfinger!
The string quartet performed in the middle of the showroom, surrounded by Maseratis-a-plenty as members of UKTI mingled and networked with guests from other organisations working with UK trade.
The quartet consisted of both halves of Dolce, Kathryn and Sidney (violin & cello), and the wonderful Kate Sullivan and Katie McKay (violin & viola).
