A young Norwegian couple approached us in August with a slightly unusual performance opportunity – they wanted us to perform on the beach for their wedding ceremony. We have always been told never to take our instruments near harsh weather conditions including sunlight and water, but after some hard thinking we decided it would be time to explore other options. While our beautiful instruments that we play in concert halls and churches are never allowed outside to be subjected to weather conditions, we found a back-up instruments of lesser value/quality that can ‘rough it up’!
Our beautiful violin soloist Madeleine Antoine took to the sand, to perform some classical and contemporary music to accompany the special day of Henrik and Marie. The ceremony was an intimate one, with only 10 guests, so a violin soloist was the perfect match so the proceedings would not be overpowered. The couple chose their music carefully and came up with the following playlist for the day:
Processional: Canon in D – Pachelbel
Signing of the Register: Fields of Gold – Sting, Angel – Sarah McLachlan
Recessional:From This Moment On – Shania Twain
While the guests arrived, Madeleine played an assortment of music by The Beatles, Andrea Bocelli and Jeff Buckley. She received some beautiful comments about her playing, and we are so lucky to have such a wonderful violinist playing such beautiful music for our brides ♥
